As we entered our third holiday season as an FSMS family, we continued to hold an annual food drive. This was a week-long event from Thursday, November 6th, to Thursday November 13th. During this time, students had the chance to donate to those in need by bringing canned and boxed food items to school. In return for their generosity, the advisory class with the most donations won a “Sip & Scroll” on Friday, November 14th. The winning advisory ended up being Mrs. Gomez’s 8th grade advisory with 182 items. Olivia Matras is in Mrs. Gomez’s advisory and she brought 150 items. She says, “donating the food means a lot to me because with the holiday season coming up, it’s important to me that every family has an opportunity to have a nice meal and enjoy it.”
We were very thankful to have NJHS helping us run this event. They organized dates, collected the donations, and brought the donations to the Food Pantry. Silas Zerr, our NJHS treasurer, told us “Being in NJHS makes me feel good because I know that I can help others.” In total, we had 596 items donated by our own students, staff, and families. Thank you to everyone who participated!
